THE BEAUTY OF “CLICKOVER MOMENTS”
My friend Jill coined the term “clickover girlfriend” years ago - this refers to the fact that women may put in years and a ton of work with a guy (and often, make him into a much better man as a result), but he still doesn’t want to commit in one capacity or all of them, and they break up. Almost overnight, he’s in love with someone new, is now the perfect partner, marriage and kids and allllll the commitment effortlessly on the horizon.
It’s a real phenomenon - am I right, ladies?! (And I’m sure this carries over into the LGBTQ+ community as well!).
In life, too, there are countless “clickover moments.” I myself became aware of this as someone who loves to go for a run early in the mornings: one pre-dawn years ago, while zipping through Central Park, I noticed that there’s actually a single, barely perceptible instance when the light “clicks over” from night to morning.
Often these clickover moments happen out of the blue: we get sick and tired of being sick and tired of whatever indecision is plaguing us and suddenly the path is clearly illuminated, even if it’s something that feels really scary or initially painful.
Here’s how I view vibing with those necessary and ultimately incredibly illuminating clickover moments:
Remember the importance of a simple perspective shift - anything and everything is exactly what we make of it, and the energy we bring to it. If you think it’s negative, it will be negative. Stay oriented in the right direction (for you)!
Be decisive - getting to a decision is the hardest thing, and the next hardest thing is wondering if you’re making the right one. But no decision is ever really wrong because I’m pretty sure we’re always on the right path, even when it feels like the ground beneath you is shaky.
Take my word for it: seeing the light is something that usually can’t (or shouldn’t) be ignored!
